The Story Behind MayDay Acres
May Day Acres is a family ranch located on Brush Creek in Eagle Colorado, specializing in raising Gypsy horses and ponies. May Day Acres is run by Sarah and Adam Burgard, as well as, their three boys. They specialize in raising beautiful quality Gypsy Vanner horses and ponies, as well as, a variety of other hobby farm animals. May Day was founded in Aberdeen, SD in 2009 and relocated to Eagle, CO in 2018 when the opportunity arose to move the ranch back to Sarah's' family ranch land. Sarah is the 5th generation to raise her family in the Eagle Valley, the family has been ranching and working in Eagle, CO since the mid 1800’s!
Excited to continue the family legacy in the Eagle Valley they continue to fight to preserve the open space and wild-lands around the Valley and have put much of the family pasture land into the Eagle Valley Land Trust! Sarah has a Masters Degree in Land Rehabilitation and a Bachelors of Science in Biology, she grew up raising animals and riding horses in the mountains of Colorado. Adam was born in Aberdeen and traveled the country with his family before returning to Aberdeen and starting his own company. As a young man Adam learned wood working and carpentry from his grandfather and now owns Burgard Construction a general contracting company that does remodeling, new construction and specializes in detailed custom woodwork. In his off time Adam also loves to go “pickin'” and drag home old treasures to be cleaned up or restored. Don’t be afraid to ask about a trade….. a horse for a muscle car to be restored and you're in with Adam!!
